In the Workshop With… Nash Martinez of Current Collection
Nash Martinez is the founder and owner of Current Collection, a contemporary lighting studio located in Portland, Oregon. With many years of experience in dealing in and restoring vintage furniture and lighting, Martinez is well-versed in some of the most well-known lighting designers from the mid-20th century. He is inspired by vintage and antique designs, motifs and details and translates them into his own original work. Of restoring light fixtures, Nash says, “I’ve always loved finding a marginalized item and breathing new life into it. It resonates with my personal story of being lost and found and God breathing new life into me.”
His original work is unique, well-crafted and beautiful, with a clean, modern and somewhat minimal aesthetic. He invests great attention to detail and workmanship…the quality is outstanding. I have enjoyed incorporating his gorgeous lighting into my interior design projects.
Martinez shows his work at design shows nationally, including at ICFF (International Contemporary Furniture Fair) in New York.
